Videogame Music
« on: November 26, 2008, 05:00:54 PM »
Well bitches since all of us are gamers I thought we could share some of the awesome tracks we have heard during our years of gaming.

I'll start with a rather new one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0PYTMcaAAY

The track is called Armored Prayer and the composer is Steve Jablonsky (the dude who made the Transformers movie soundtrack).

Any topic about game music starts and ends with either Mega Man, Ys, or Chrono. FAIL

I finally listened to some of The Cardigans. They're surprisingly tolerable, and that goes against my policy of only having horrible music acts in my avatar, so out they go.

Instead, enjoy the cunt from No Doubt.

Oh, and LOL: I fucking hate poutine.

Unlike you oldcake I'm don't mind moving on from 8-bit music. Plus you missed Castlevania on its various incarnations.

Most of the soundtrack was damn good except Fate to Despair.

I also don't care how badly this was horseraped in CotM.  I still loved it.

Metal Gear Solid 4 obviously wins this battle...the Metal Gear Series as a whole, actually.

Touhou.

Touhou, Touhou, TOUHOU.

Say what you will about the games themselves (like the fact that playing a Touhou game is the gamer's equivalent of cutting yourself) or the characters (loli obsession, anyone?), the music is AMAZINGLY AWESOME.

Luna Dial, U.N. Owen was her?, Lunatic Princess, Candid Friend, Suwa Foughten Field, Hartmann's Youkai Girl, Third Eye, Border of Life, Locked Girl, Phantom Ensemble, Necrofantasia, Flowering Night, Native Faith...

...just to name a few.

http://www.youtube.com/user/PineappleDisciple has most of the stuff from EoSD and onwards.  Stay a while and listen!

I have to agree. That's probably one of the best Castlevania tracks ever.

Is this a conspiracy against metroid. :(

Anyway, I really like Jesper Kyd's Music especially his work in Freedom Fighters:

Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime Echoes had awesome soundtracks. Corruption sucked compared to the other two.

hmm in terms of older game music...

the closest thing I could find.

I can't explain it more than it was pretty much all I heard growing up. Since I was too afraid to play this game, I'd just watch my brother play it. ~_~

in terms of more recent masterpieces...

Shadows of the Colossus ftw~

the entire soundtrack is brilliant.

Is Powerglove relevant? Because I think they should be.

That's their take of Holy Orders - Be Just Or Be Dead, Ky Kiske's theme from Guilty Gear.

And that's Vanquish The Horrible Night, a Castlevania medley of sorts.
